HOURS
In accordance with Montessori’s philosophy we offer a five day/week program for the students
| Morning Program | 9:00am – 12:00pm (All Students) |
| Extended Day Program* | 9:00 – 1:55pm (offered to Kindergarten age children who are in their Third Year) |
| More-Time (after care program)** | 12:00-1:55 (offered on a daily sign-up basis to First and Second Year students) |
*Extended Day
The Extended Day program is designed specifically for the Third year Student who is ready for advanced activities. Children in the program continue in the afternoon in a small group with in-depth study of areas of interest such as:
- Our World
- Native Americans
- Leaves and Trees
- The Solar System
- Cultural Exploration
- Health
- Time
- Currency
To further enhance their understanding, Extended Day children take related field trips to local places where trained educators continue the learning process. There are eight field trips across the school year, culminating in a May trip to the Botanical Gardens in Bronx, NY.
**More Time
More Time is available for children who feel comfortable with a longer day. Its intentions are not for continued lessons, but rather to share lunch and some indoor and outdoor playtime with a small number of classmates. Younger children may participate in More Time for an additional fee on a daily sign-up basis.
Both Extended Day and More Time begin in October and are in session Monday through Thursday until the end of May. Friday afternoons are reserved for classroom planning among staff members and monthly Board Meetings.
